InMe

InMe (sometimes shown as Inme or INME) are an English England alternative rock band from Brentwood Brentwood, Es*** , Es*** Es***, England formed in 1996. To date they have released four studio albums - Overgrown Eden (2003); White Butterfly White Butterfly (album) (2005); Daydream Anonymous (2007) and Herald Moth (2009). In addition they have also released one live album - Caught: White Butterfly (2006) as well as A Live EP.

The group originally formed as "drowned" in 1996. The members of the band at that time were Dave McPherson Dave McPherson (musician) as guitarist / vocalist, Joe Morgan as bassist / backing vocalist and Simon Taylor as drummer. They played several local venues, getting their first interviews and airplay on Brentwood-based station Phoenix FM. The band scored their big break when a scout from MFN Music for Nations caught the end of one of their sets whilst attending a gig to see another band. They signed with MFN Music For Nations in 2001 and changed their name to "InMe" to avoid confusion with Drowned, an American United States rock band of the same name.

On July 19, 2006, it was announced on the bands official forum and myspace
"This is an official announcement to let you know that Joe will no longer be playing bass with InMe. He is going to pursue a different career and we wish him all the best. We have had 10 amazing years doing what we love together and we have no regrets. Good luck mate.
Si and I however will be continuing InMe and will be joined by Greg McPherson on bass duties. We will be playing all announced dates and we hope to hit you with some new music soon. Sir Joe Morgan, we salute you. Dave and Si. X"

In various interviews, InMe have confirmed that Joe Morgan went to university. One interview was conducted with 'Planet-Loud',
During the summer / autumn period of 2008, Ben Konstantinovic joined the band as a second guitarist.

On 13 October 2009, it was announced that the band had amicably parted ways with Ben, and are back as a three piece.
On the 1st of February 2010, InMe revealed that Gary Marlow was their new second guitarist and new fourth member.Their musical style of simple riffs combined with angst-ridden lyrical material has led many to dub them as 'nu-metal', although since they emerged onto the screens of Kerrang! TV shortly after the popularity of this genre had waned and the term had ceased to be applied so widely, the most accurate label for InMe's music would probably be post-grunge.

In the early days of Overgrown Eden, InMe were labelled by many as 'nu-metal', but upon the release of White Butterfly, it became clear that the band had matured. Early performances of tracks off Daydream Anonymous have suggested to many that InMe may be heading back slightly towards the music heard in Overgrown Eden. It could be argued that InMe's music style on Daydream Anonymous is more progressive and technical. With Herald Moth the band elaborated everything that was Daydream Anonymous and took it to a much more extreme level with technical riffs, progressive structures and epic melodies, which according to many fans showed off a much more focused, mature and sophisticated band. This has also been applauded by many critics claiming that InMe could very well become future pioneers.Overgrown Eden was released through Music for Nations on 27.01.03, after numerous delays. It reached #15 in the UK album chart, and #01 in the rock album chart.

Four singles were released from Overgrown Eden - Underdose, Firefly, Crushed Like Fruit and Neptune, the first three of these being before the album itself was even released due to the delays.

'Underdose' was released 15.07.02 and entered the UK single charts at #66. This was followed by 'Firefly' on 16.09.03 which did not manage to enter the UK top 40, charting at #43. 'Crushed Like Fruit' was the next single, released on 06.01.03, charting at #25.

'Neptune' was the last single released from the album on 14.04.03, charting at #46 and accompanied with a video featuring fans at a live gig.

Music for Nations closed its doors as a label during 2004, when they were absorbed into a parent company. During this time the rights for Overgrown Eden were lost, and because of this, the album was re-released 05.06.06 when the rights were reobtained.Their second album, White Butterfly White Butterfly (album) , was released 20 June 2005. It was released in two forms in the UK, a standard edition with thirteen tracks, and a limited edition with two bonus tracks 'Every whisper aches' and 'Angels with Snipers'. The first single from White Butterfly was technically "Faster The Chase" back in 2004 when the band were still with MFN. Before the release of the album, there was a leak where several tracks, due to be released for the first time on the album, escaped and were downloaded by many InMe fans. This incident is often used to explain why White Butterfly did not reach as high as Overgrown Eden in the UK chart. After, download-only single, "Otherside", was released at a cost of £0.99 (GBP) per download. The first in-store single to be released on the new label, however, was "7 Weeks" which reached #36 in the UK singles chart. The second single from the album So You Know reached #33. The release of White Butterfly was sandwiched between a tour of the UK. White Butterfly was produced by Josh Abraham, known for his work with other big name bands such as Korn.

The band released a double a-side download single "White Butterfly/Safe In A Room" on 19 December 2005 with a 5 track live EP. It can be purchased from the HMV download store, which turned up at #36 in the National download chart.

The album White Butterfly was written dedicated to James Austin, a friend of the group who met Joe during secondary school. James died six weeks before his 19th birthday in July 2002 after an accident on holiday with friends celebrating the end of A-Level exams. James is the reason behind the name white butterfly. When he was a child, he had once stroked a white butterfly's wing, he had always reminded people that he was 'special' as it is obviously, for an encounter such as this, very rare indeed. It has been said that on several occasions after his passing when his family or friends thought or spoke of him, a white butterfly flew past, making them feel he was close.

In late 2007, after members of the official InMe forum voted "Faster The Chase" as the best song that the band had ever recorded.A live album, titled Caught: White Butterfly was recorded at the London Astoria on 17 December 2005 at the end of a massive UK tour. It was released on 14 August 2006. InMe have always played a mixture of both the new and the old material, playing tracks from Overgrown Eden, White Butterfly White Butterfly (album) and some of their B-sides live.

The album was a prelude to an eagerly awaited live DVD of the bands performance at the London Astoria at the same date, named "White Butterfly Caught Live", which was released on 9 October 2006. On release, the demand was very high and prices rose quickly on both www.amazon.co.uk and www.play.comThis note was posted by Dave and Simon of InMe on the band's message board along with their MySpace account, reading:

"This is an official announcement to let you know that Joe will no longer be playing bass with InMe. He is going to pursue a different career and we wish him all the best. We have had 10 amazing years doing what we love together and we have no regrets. Good luck mate.

Si and I however will be continuing InMe and will be joined by Greg McPherson on bass duties. We will be playing all announced dates and we hope to hit you with some new music soon. Sir Joe Morgan, we salute you. Dave and Si. X"

In various interviews, InMe have confirmed that Joe Morgan went to university. One interview was conducted with 'Planet-Loud', whereby Dave discusses the line-up change, stating: "Joe wanted to go to uni before he misses the opportunity which we fully support. It's been on the cards for sometime and although it's sad to see him go Greg is the absolute bollocks".In September 2007, InMe released their third album Daydream Anonymous. It charted in the UK at number 71, making it the lowest charting InMe album yet. Daydream Anonymous featured 13 tracks that showcased the tight musicianship within the new line-up containing a much more technical and progressive style compared to the previous effort. I Wont Let Go was released as the first and only single. Although the band wanted to release Cracking The Whip as a second single, the release never say the light of day. The album received critical acclaim but didn't sell as well as the previous albums. On 5 October 2007 Dave McPherson announced on his personal MySpace that in the next few months he will be working on a new album for InMe. The album was completed that winter and the band entered the studio in January 2009 to start tracking the album.
Herald Moth was recorded at Chapel Studios where Overgrown Eden was recorded with the producer Ewan Davies who produced InMe songs such as "Gelosea", "Inside", "The End", "Your Pain", "Angels with Snipers", "Every Whisper Aches". The band finished recording the album in February 2009.

On 29 June 2009, the band's MySpace page showed the album artwork for Herald Moth, as well as a release date of 31 August. Herald Moth was released on 14 September through Graphite Records. It reached #68 in the UK chart. The Album's first single, "Single of the Weak", was released on 17 August. A second single will be released from the album in May. It will be a double A side containing "All Terrain Vehicle and one of the following: Nova Armada, All Terrain Vehicle, Belief Revival or Ferocity In Desire

Herald Moth is InMe's first album as a four piece band following the addition of Ben Konstantinovic to the band in summer 2008. The album continues where Daydream Anonymous left off, with more of an emphasis being placed on the technical side of InMe. It is the only InMe album to feature Ben Konstantinovic, following his departure in October 2009.

Following a short tour as a four piece in April 2009, InMe toured extensively in the autumn of 2009 as a three piece, following a car crash involving drummer Simon Taylor and Ben Konstantinovic, in which Ben broke his wrist rendering him unable to tour. Following Ben's departure at the end of the tour, InMe toured Sweden, opening for Takida on 3 dates. Following this, InMe headlined the Scuzz meltdown club night at the Scala on December 4, 2009. Following the addition of Gazz Marlow to the band, InMe toured as 4 piece again on their "Revival Tour" in February 2010, culminating with 2 dates with Fightstar in Europe. A further tour is planned for May/June 2010, with widespread festival appearances a strong possibility.

Nova Armada has been confirmed by the band as the next single from herald mothOn October 13, 2009 InMe announced the departure of second guitarist Ben Konstantinovic in a myspace blog stating -

Me, Greg & Si have come to the decision to continue without Ben in the band. This was a hard choice to make as we're all good friends but InMe requires a level of absolute commitment that Ben couldn't give. I sat down & personally discussed it all with Ben & it was totally amicable & open.

He is an amazing guitarist & it's a pleasure performing with him & I'll continue to do so outside of InMe. We will remain a 3 piece for the foreseeable future & will not be rushing into anything. The album is doing well & things are on the up!

We wish Ben the best of luck with all his other musical ventures.

Dave - InMeOn 1 February 2010, Dave announced on his twitter that Gary Marlow, formerly frontman of British rock outfit Dry Rise, was InMe's new second guitarist:

"Very pleased to announce that Gary Marlow is the new 2nd guitarist for InMe. Looking forward to taking over the world with you brother :)".

InMe also added new band pictures on their official myspace page which also revealed Marlow in the new line-up and that the band have gone back to being a 4 piece and will tour as one as of February 2010's Revival Tour. Marlow's first gig with InMe was at Manchester Moho live on 9 February 2010.

Unlike his work in his side project Dry Rise (which he fronts), Marlow doesn't contribute to InMe vocally, playing exclusively as a lead guitarist and leaving backing vocals to bassist Greg McPherson. He has also reworked some of former lead guitarist's Ben Konstantinovic's parts on some Herald Moth songs, such as his solo in 'Master Storm'.

As of 28 February 2010, the creation of the fifth album has officially begun according to Daves twitter.

"And so it begins. The creation of InMe's 5th opus. To boldly go where no hands have gone before...on a guitar."
